The School Board is the policy making body of the school. The Board consists of three members elected by the school community, two teachers elected by the staff of the school, the Principal of the school and an ACT Government representative. Elected members serve for two years following elections held in February. School Board meetings are held at least four times per year.
The major functions of the Board are:
- to formulate school educational policies
- to approve the school budget, including liaising with the community and school to authorise the level of voluntary contributions requested from parents, and
- to oversee curriculum requirements in line with the Australian Curriculum.
All members of the Board are eager to hear parents' views and welcome discussion of anything which comes within their jurisdiction. The Board is committed to the provision of the best educational opportunities for every child at Torrens Primary School.
